Add a category

Invent the category. Sitting on it is the part that costs money.

There are two ways to put a new throne on the board, and they buy different things. Proposing a category is free, because a category is just a name. Occupying it is $1, because that is what this site sells.

The difference, in one line each

Free
The throne goes live vacant at $1 with nobody on it. You have made a category exist. You have not bought anything, and the first person to pay is the king, which may not be you.
$1
The throne goes live with your product already on it. You are the #1 in a category nobody else has heard of yet, and your $1 becomes the price anyone has to beat to take it off you.

What happens next, either way

  1. 01Your category goes into a moderation queue. Nothing is published yet, and nobody can see it.
  2. 02A person reads it. We are checking that it names a product category, not a company, a person or something we will not list. This is manual, so it is not instant.
  3. 03Approved: the throne appears on the board. Vacant if you proposed it for free, with your product on it if you paid.
  4. 04Rejected: nothing is published. If you paid, the full $1 is refunded automatically and you do not have to ask. If you did not pay, there is nothing to refund.

Never shown publicly. Give it and we will tell you whether the category went live, in time to claim it first. Leave it out and you will have to check the board yourself.

Nothing to pay and nothing to refund. A person reads your category, and if we approve it the throne opens vacant at $1 with nobody on it. You get told either way. Proposing a category does not reserve it for you. The rules.
